A little bit of #garage2workshop progress:
The garage is empty except for the old workbench and my brother in laws (BIL) old Fiat 500. I need help pushing the car out so I can dismantle the workbench.
This main door will be replaced, but I haven’t decided what with just yet. I’m thinking maybe 2 bi-fold doors and a single, or a folding flip. A roller door would be best but not if I have to shell out $400+ for one. I’m trying to be as stingy as possible on this build! This door can wait anyway, no rush.
The fuse panel is pretty scary; no safety switch, old porcelain fuses, it’s not exactly what I want in the new shop. My sparky will put a new one in for me, most likely with 3 separate fuses; lights, outlets and dedicated 15A line for the Tablesaw.
Now the pine I’ve decided to use is quite cheap, something like 0.85c a metre cheap! It’s ‘non-structural’ pine from Bunnings. Basically its got knots, cracks and twists in it and is not capable of being used to frame houses or anything like that. It won’t keep a roof up.
Fortunately my steel framed garage is quite sturdy and secure, the pine is holding plaster and cupboards only, so no real load on them. I spent some time selecting the very best of the pile and am satisfied that what I have will be up to the task. Bargain.
I managed to get a few studs in before nightfall hit but fatigue has gotten to me, the past few days labouring for my BIL in the sun has taken it out of me. I’ll get back into it in the morning!
