My Photo Box

I’m really getting into the swing of #summerofboxes now, this is the third cab off the ranks. This time around I’ve made a dovetailed box, using spotted gum and messmate, which is sized to store just over 1000, 6×4 photo prints.

That might seem excessive, but it is the price I have to pay for wanting to give my wife a unique Christmas present. My original intention was to give her 4 big photo albums, filled with photos from the past 20 years. Like many people, we don’t print photos out very often, so I thought it would be nice to surprise her with them.

Of course, I soon realised that I wouldn’t be able to compress the roughly 130,000 photos I have my computer, to the 2000 that I could fit in these albums. So instead I bit the bullet, and decided I’d go for roughly one album per year, instead of one album for every five years.

So I printed out my first 2000 photos, and then realised the second problem, a lot of my older photos have lost their ‘date taken’ picture information, which means they weren’t in order! So before I can put them in albums, I need to sort them into order, which means I need somewhere to store them, hence, my SummerOfBoxes box number 3.

Whew, that took as long to explain as the box did to build!

Enjoy!

And the requisite photos to show it off too. I’m honestly really proud of this one, I think it came out beautifully. Check out the photos and let me know what you think.
