Fit It Beta testing

[cryout-multi][cryout-column width=”3/5″]

Well I’m stoked with the response to my Fit It video from last week. It was overwhelmingly positive and received a lot more comments and emails than normal too which shows it is something that will benefit more people than just myself. And by the way, thanks to all those who take the time to email me, it’s much appreciated!

So all the reaction drove me to work like a mad man on it. I’ve thrown over 40hrs at it in the last week which is a fair bit considering I’ve a full-time job and am filming/building some more Mega Shoeboxes at the same time. As soon as someone invents a machine to slow down time, I’m investing! But I think it’s been worth it; as of right now the only major function that I haven’t implemented is printing, but seeing as you can export images out and print them yourself, I’m not sure if I’ll bother adding printing myself. We’ll see.

After all the requests, I have managed to add a Grain direction function as well which is awesome.

I’ve had a lot of offers for beta testers over the past month too. I expect to release a beta version of the program in the next 24 hours, if you’d like to get on that mailing list, just contact me through here. All the details will be in the email as to how you run it, it’s written in Java so I’m hoping to get testers to try it out across Windows, Mac and Linux. *** Beta testing is underway so I’m not calling for any more testers sorry. ***

I also wanted to run a competition as well!

What do you think I should call this little program of mine? I sort of like ‘Fit It’, but it was never meant to be permanent. I’d like something that rolls off the tongue a bit better. If you have a suggestion, let me know!

You can tweet your suggestion @thewoodfather, post on my facebook page, leave a comment below or send me an email – What do you think it should be named?

I’ll add all suggestions I receive* to a poll on my site that readers can vote on, whoever nominates the winning name will get to download it for free once it is released!

That’s pretty much it for this week, I should have a new video up next week which will be fun.

I’m literally working on Fit It right now and want to get back into it. I’ve only taken a couple of programs to this level of stability before, there’s a lot of work in it. Hopefully though it will all work out and I will have a program that functions properly and easily across all operating systems. Well, I can hope for that at least.

* Only names that I personally like will make the poll that is![/cryout-column][/cryout-multi]

  1. Hi Mario, well done… looks good and “fit It” works !
also prepared to test if required….. cheers

  2. Not exactly a woodworking site, but the only one I have. Woodworking for me is more of a hobby than a money generating mechanism. Would still love to beta test your app.
