About Me

Hi, Woodfather here!

My name is Mario Cappellano; I’m from Melbourne, Australia where I live with my wife and our 3 children. I have a full-time job that has nothing to do with woodworking. I make things from wood because it’s fun and I enjoy the time it gives me with my children, it’s as simple as that.

I’m not a professional and make absolutely no claims as to being one! I don’t plan to ever make a living from woodworking but all I really want is to be known as ‘that guy that makes wooden toys and stuff.’ 🙂 High expectations I know.

While I try to make everything as nice and as good quality as I can, I don’t get upset when things don’t work out as planned. I just enjoy doing it, my children are great for positive reinforcement, they always like what I make, so long as I let them help me. And generally, things come out looking nice.

Basically I just love playing with my kids and playing in the garage with my tools. I wanted to spend more time doing both, so I decided to start this site and document the projects I make with or for my kiddies.

Also, take a look in the top right corner!

  1. Hi Mario, I just stumbled across your video then came to your site to check out where you are. I’m in Officer, near Pakenham. Thought I’d say hi and I’ll be sure to watch more and subscribe. Thanks for making so many great videos. Good to see another Aussie woodworker on YouTube. I’ve never made videos myself but I’ve been woodworking for my whole life and love to see what others are up to. I’ll have to make one of your single blade jigs. All these years and I’ve refused to get a dado stack so I’ve often thought about making a single blade box joint jig. Your video will sure come in handy if I ever do. If only there were more hours in the day!
    Regards
    Andrew

    • Hi Andrew, cheers for stopping by and thanks for subscribing, much appreciated. I only do this for fun so it’s good to hear that someone is getting a little entertainment out of it! Give that jig a try, you won’t be disappointed. The best part is you can knock it up from scrap wood in an afternoon. I feel your pain on there not being enough hours in the day, though if there were more I’d probably just sleep them all away… All the best, Mario

  3. Hey Mario,
I was just wondering if you would ship to Canberra? I’m pretty desperate for one and I’m not sure on how/where to get one made here..

    Cheers

    • Hi Mai, I actually can’t take any more orders at the moment, I’ve just got no time to make them. If things change I’ll let you know.
As for interstate, I can build you a box, but you would have to take care of all the delivery arrangements, details on my ‘buy’ page. Cheers, Mario
